Letter From The President

It has been a while since I have written to let you know of the many things the club will be involved in very soon. We have the annual dance contest coming in mid August. I would like to encourage all members to spread the word to help the club introduce anyone who might be interested in learning more about the dance. This is also a perfect opportunity to recruit new members for the club. The annual dance contest is one of our largest fund raising events that will benefit the club and our charity. Remember that the dance and the contest are for fun and we should all encourage all dancers to enjoy the moment on the floor as they are dancing for the crowd’s enjoyment.
I attended the A.C.S.C. (Association of Carolina Shag Clubs) mid July and was glad to see and hear the many positive things I heard about Eno Beach Shag Club. I sat and talked with several of our sister clubs presidents and was reminded that when they started their clubs they all wanted to be modeled after Eno Beach. Everyone indicated that Eno was the club to go to, be seen at, and the club was spinning the best music and show cased the best shaggers. Some of these clubs have now grown in membership and have become some of the clubs now that we wish we had that large an active membership.
I would like to take a moment to let you know that Linda, Robin, Ed and Rick have worked very hard to bring positive action to the table for the Board to respond. They have interacted as a team and continue to look at adversity as a challenge to create a positive situation. I am more impressed every time we get the opportunity to talk about items of interest for the club. The web –site is looking good and continues to be improved every month. Linda and Allen have shown us that we can have an up-to-date web site for the members and new comers to view.
We attended the Bass Lake Area Shag Clubs’ Sunday Social this past Sunday and I must say what a great group of people we met. Eno Beach was well represented by 90% of the Board as well as several regular members. We have several things that we felt we could learn from to help improve our regular meeting nights. I will have to say that they were a very friendly group who made sure Eno Beach was recognized several times during the evening…..we appreciated their effort. We now hope to see some of them at our dance night so we can return the favor.
I would encourage all members to attend the August meeting; we have several important issues to talk about as we press on into the calendar year.
